"This company is brilliant. They are fast and the carpet is so clean afterwards. The carpet cleaner that they left me for accidents is excellent as well and has saved my carpet from needing professional cleaning a few times. I would not recommend anyone else!" Jocelyn - Penrith

3 ways to remove stains and pet odors from carpets

Who doesn’t love pets! They add chirpiness to a home’s otherwise mundane environment and the bond you share with them makes you forget all your friends. If you are going to keep a pet, your home must be pet-friendly as they will be constantly in contact with your blankets, your sofas and mostly, your carpets.

It can be hard to remove pet urine stains and odors from your carpet. These stains and odors penetrate deep inside the carpet padding, and give an unkempt, shabby feel to your house. Here we have listed three ways that are effective in removing pet stains and odors, so that you have a fresh smelling house even with a pet.

Vinegar and Baking Soda Spray

This is one of the most inexpensive and efficient DIY cleaners. Baking soda is a natural odor remover, while vinegar works magic on stains. This spray can get rid of blood and urine stains, even if they are old and stubborn. Simply mix together 2 cups of distilled white vinegar, 2 cups of lukewarm water, and 4 tablespoons of baking soda. Combine it all and spray it on the affected area of the carpet. Scrub it gently and dab with a clean piece of wash cloth.

Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda Spray

Hydrogen peroxide comes in handy when it comes to breaking down urine stains and removing odor. Combine half a cup of 1% hydrogen peroxide with a cup of baking soda. Add a teaspoon of eco-friendly dish washing liquid. Slowly pour this solution onto the affected area and scrub it with a wash cloth or brush. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and wipe with a clean cloth.

Citrus Enzyme Cleaner

You can make your own fancy enzyme cleaner by combining 7 tablespoons of brown sugar, 2 cups of lemon/orange peel, and a liter of water. Pour this solution in a bottle and leave for 3 months. After 3 months, your natural enzymatic cleaner will be ready to use. You must leave the bottle cap a little loose so that the bottle doesn’t explode in case of any gaseous buildup.

Make sure you sponge away the excess liquid from the carpet before spraying any one of the above mentioned solutions. Also, don’t forget to vacuum afterwards to give a pristine appearance to your house.
